ABOUT THE PBC

ABOUT US

UNITED BY PASSION, DRIVEN BY PURPOSE

The perception around the world is that the club motorcycling scene consists of a group of “disorganized hooligans” hanging out together and causing mayhem wherever they go. While this may be true in Hollywood movies, it certainly doesn’t apply in Pretoria—or the rest of South Africa, for that matter!

ESTABLISHED 1995

OUR STORY

Although the very nature of biking, and bikers, is to resist rules and authority, biking in South Africa is actually well organized, especially among the Club or “Patch-wearing” bikers. The PBC was established in 1995, and its main aim has always been to create a forum where like-minded individuals can come together, organize events, and, generally, have fun. The PBC’s function is to provide the club biking community with a set of guidelines and rules that help keep the biking scene organized. The goal is not to create an environment where a handful of people control everything, but rather to offer biking a set of well-thought-out guidelines. These guidelines help clubs maintain order and discipline within their own ranks, thus encouraging co-operation for the greater good of the biking community in South Africa.

BUILDING THE ORGANISED BIKING COMMUNITY ONE CLUB AT A TIME

"Our aim has been, to create a forum where like-minded individuals can get together, organize events and generally just have fun."

ORGANISED BIKING EVOLVES

THE PBC

Enter the SANBCA – the South African National Biker Council Alliance. The PBC was one of the original seven bikers’ councils that started this initiative to advance the guidelines developed by the councils, with the goal of making club biking in South Africa what it is meant to be: “Organized Biking.”

Meetings are held on a monthly basis. Although attendance is limited to members, prospective members, and guest speakers, everyone is welcome to visit before and after the meetings. This allows people to meet the “rest of the gang” and get to know some of the individuals involved in the council.
